June 15, 2007, Newsletter Issue #15: Sending Spiritual Sentiments

Tip of the Week

Sending a greeting card with a spiritual message can be a wonderful inspiration and comfort to the recipient of the card. But in this day and age, with so many different religions and belief systems, and so many more people turning to their faith for comfort, it can be difficult to know whether choosing a spiritual greeting card will offend the recipient or not.

If you're sending a greeting card to a person you know well, use your judgement on sending spiritual-based cards. Most of the time, if you know someone well, you know what their religious affiliation is.

If you are sending a card to someone you don't know well, sending greeting cards to all your co-workers, or mass mailing greeting cards to people in your community, it is better to send a more secular card that does not contain spiritual connotations. The reason for this is because some may not celebrate the same holidays as you do or their spiritual views may differ greatly from your own.

You're sending a greeting card to uplift and bring cheer to the recipient, not offend those people. Use your best judgement when considering whether or not to choose a spiritual-based greeting card.
