- Start off by asking the children several questions. For example: What are greeting cards? Why do we send greeting cards? On what occasions are cards sent? Who sends you greeting cards?
- Buy a box of any occasion greeting cards or if you are doing this project during a holiday month, buy a themed box of greeting cards. Pass these out to the children and have them sign the card, write a sentiment inside the card, and decorate the envelope. Help the children address the envelope when finished. Be sure to have enough stamps on hand for each child's card. You can even contact your local post office and set up a tour so the children can mail their cards while there.
- Partner with another teacher and their classroom to create pen pals. Assign a pen pal to each child and have them create a card and address an envelope to that child. The children can even create mailboxes to receive their cards and letters in. This is a great way to reinforce grammar and what they've learned about greeting cards and the postal system!
Kids Crafts: Coupon Cards

Supplies Needed:
- One piece of construction paper or card stock
- Plain white paper
- Scissors
- A pencil or pen
- Crayons
Have the child decorate and color the front of the card and add their sentiments to the inside of the card first. After they have finished with that, have them cut the plain white paper into rectangles small enough to be slid inside the slits they cut in their cards earlier.
Then have the child create a coupon and make sure they write what the coupon is for. They can decorate the coupon any way they wish. It is up to the child how many coupons they want to add to the card.
